Sometimes things just get too much. It can feel like there is no way out and you just can't relax. I have been in that place more than once this year, with the lock-down, the lasting effects of Covid-19 and life in general. So, over the last few months I have been finding ways to unwind without even leaving the house! It is important to find ways to relax, unwind and let go of some of the stresses that life bring. I have found a few things that help me to relax and forget that I am stuck at home. I hope these ideas help bring you a little time to unwind in your life.

Movie Night

This can seem really obvious but movie nights can be a real moment of escape. Choose the film you want to watch and then make your space extra cosy. Pull out all the stops to make this a special few hours. I like to find a cosy spot and grab blankets, cushion etc. I want to be comfortable, so I forget that I am sitting at home. Now, the most important thing... snacks! Get all your faves, grab a drink and settle down. Make sure you get it all set up so you don't have to move a muscle once the movie starts! Let yourself be transported away for a couple of hours where all your stresses can melt away for a bit.

Early Morning Bible Time

This has become one of my most favourite ways to find some peace from the stresses of having a full house 24/7. In my house the earlier I can get up, the better. If I get up early, all is quiet and there is no hustle and bustle. I like to use this time to read my Bible, pray and listen to worship music. There is something so peaceful about starting the day with God and starting it before the madness begins. It can be the only time of quiet I get all day and it is so needed.

Take A Nap

This one may not be for everyone but sometimes you have a headache, everything is too much and rather than spin out of control, I like to take a nap. It gives me time to rest and let my body relax instead of holding onto the stress in all my joints.

Find A Place Of Quiet

This one is hard as not everyone has enough space in their house to find a spot that is all quiet. I have begun going to the shed for some space and some piece. It is not always quiet but it is quieter than house. If you can find a moment, even if it's in the bath... it can be really helpful for when you just need a minute to yourself.

Time To Bake

Baking has always been therapeutic for me. Maybe cooking or another hobby is for you? It is nice to focus on a task, work through the steps and and the end have a tasty result. Whether you bake or like to do something else, dive into your hobbies every once in a while and give yourself some mental wind down.

A Minute Away With Music

Music is another great escape. Put your headphones on and let the music carry you away. When you are in a busy and noisy house, this one can be great for keeping you feel more relaxed and less focused on the volume around you.

If you have found any ways that help you unwind without leaving home, tell me in the comments below. It is important to find some time away, even if it is only for a few minutes each day. Mental health is really important, take care of yourselves.

Faithfully,

Becky
